International Citizen Service (ICS) is a UK government-funded volunteer programme aimed at providing young people from Nepal and the UK with the opportunity to work together in the development sector and become active global citizens.
The programme is split into two parts:
A 10 week placement in a rural community, delivering awareness raising sessions and training, developing resources and community infrastructure, undertaking needs assessments and action research and promoting active global citizenship. You will live with a local host family alongside a UK counterpart and you’ll be expected to participate in family life.
This is followed by a personal commitment to follow up your learning with writing a report. You receive a certificate of completion from the UK government once your report has been accepted.
If you live in Nepal you can join us as an ICS volunteer (aged 18-25) or as a Team Leader (over 23).
